PARROT AND DOLPHINS small_edited.jpg

I've  always had a passion for the written word and how words and images are paired to create an even greater impact.

Here are a few examples of my work.

BOUNCING BISKIT 1 small.jpg

Bouncing Biskit

excerpt

Uncommon things happen on small enchanted islands sculpted out of red clay. When biscuit is spelled with a K, it opens up whole new worlds. On this particular island cradled in the waves, Biskit is an uncommon dog. But he couldn't be happy because no one wanted to play with him.

It all began when Biskit went to town. In town, he galloped up the streets and down the streets. Like a pogo stick he dove into every puddle with a splish, splash, squish, and plunk. Biskit liked the ways the puddles left his paws looking like chocolate coated strawberries. Even with such a fashionable outfit, soon no one wanted to walk with him.

Left alone, Biskit wandered into the park in search of uncommon games. He looked left, he looked right, but all the other dogs were smaller than him. Biskit tried to join in, but the smaller dogs preferred to play together. Sadder still, he was the object of dreadful games when they did play.

Shaking off his tormentors, Biskit trotted off in search of better games. When he saw a baby, he could hardly contain his excitement. He knew that babies were delicate so he was extra gentle. He was also always willing to share. Unfortunately, babies were never excited to see Biskit.

Biskit sheepishly slunk home to turn his attention to intellectual pursuits. He studied the rules and strategies for the game of chess. He became quite knowledgeable and could recite all the best chess moves. However, he couldn't quite master the art of moving the chess pieces.

As Biskit was forced to leave the chess board, Biskit bumped into King Cat. However, on this day he found Cat's head full of travel and adventure. Cat didn't want anything to do with mundane games. He bid Biskit a hearty adieu before leaving on his world tour. Biskit tried to give his friend a cheery bon voyage. But he had to dab the corner of his eyes before raising his paw in fond farewell.

MOONLIGHT small.jpg

Moonlight

When moonlight caresses the dark running water, performing its ancient alchemy changing ebony ink into streaming schools of silver fish, I stand by the shore, my tears join the current of what once was and will never be again. I send out my heart giving you its last light. A beacon of all the love I have for you. Hoping that you knew the depth of my love with even greater certainty when I held your hand in mine. I will leave on the light of my heart for you so that you know I am searching my way back, until I take your hand once again and this time never to let go.

HORSE ALPHABET small.jpg

A Horsey Alphabet

G is for grooming. After a proper grooming job, your horse should be cleaner than you.

DNA small.jpg

DNA

With each loss, I become a little less.

I send the best of me off to them....

To have and to hold.

For they have given the best of themselves to me.

Our DNA is now one.

I trusted my heart with them then, and it is theirs forever.

MEADOW small.jpg

Let There Be a World

Let there be a world where everyone can look forward to spectacular sunrises each more colorful than the last, with no dread of the coming day.

Let there be a world where love is the only thing that is fierce.

Let there be a world where pain is a thing of myth and legend long since conquered by knights of yore.

Let there be a world where goodbyes never exist for those we love will never leave our side.

Let there be a world where feathered, finned, and furred move freely, their sleek sides flashing in the light offering their love and guidance.

My mind wanders to such a world and meets you there and that's where it wants to stay.

UNIVERSE small.jpg

The Universe

I look for you in the moon,

And to hear your tender voice,

In the eternity of the stars, I forget you were taken too soon.

In this life and the next, you were mine and I was yours, we were each other's choice.

The love you gave will be your heart and is forever held close to mine, until two once again can beat as one, And the universe regains its tarnished shine.

Homesick

I want to go home I say again and again. I'm homesick but how do I find my way. They say that home is where the heart is. But mine is shattered and spread like so many ashes.
